Test / Review Head WorldCup Rebels i.Speed

Mini Head - SkiReviewer

The Head Worldcup Rebels i.Speed is the GS interpretation for the general public from this American founded company. Despite the fancy marketing words such as the “Intelligence” and “Kers” technologies, it all makes sense at the first look. Racing looks, with a narrow shape, finished by a not very aggressive cut tail are the things your eyes will discover first. The magic chip stickers are well placed behind the binding so you will see them soon. Don’t try to plug your iPhone or Android device, there is no port for them, which is a pity, don’t you think?

Test / Review Head Worldcup Rebels i.SL

Mini Head - SkiReviewer

The Head Worldcup Rebels i.SL is the racing SL tool for the general public from Head’s perspective. Black and yellow war paintings distinguish this particular ski among many other racing Slalom skis. Almost every single racing ski has the aggressive collection of colors and draws related to the competition. Numbers in circles, colorful and shiny stripes, checkered flags sometimes in strategic locations are some of the decorations found in racing skis. Head has gone simplistic for the last seasons. For the Head Worldcup Rebels i.SL the background is black, covered by a strong yellow stripe and some letters giving more sound and compelling looks.

Test / Review Ski Head iSupershape Speed

Mini Head - SkiReviewer

Fun, easy to edge, reactive, round and powerful are the adjectives which perfectly define how the Head iSupershape Speed performs. It’s got an SL touch but without being so specific. Wide turns are not its favourite terrain, but if we link some of those we will realize it’s still better than others. The problems will start when reducing that high speed because it will rebound more than what’s desirable.

For this next 2014-2015 season, the Head iSupershape Speed comes from the same mold and it features the same technologies from last season such as the KERS, the Race Structured UHM C Base, the WC sandwich cap construction and the Speed Rocker. The level of stupidity has been increased in the marketing department with the so-called ERA 3.0 technology, but despite our considerations on that issue, the iSupershape models are still very, very good skis.

Test / Review Ski Head iSupershape Magnum

Mini Head - SkiReviewer

The Head iSupershape Magnum is a very well renowned ski inside the ski schools circuit and resorts staff in the Pyrenees, as the brand’s representative in Andorra explained to me. This is quite understandable because the Magnum works in a high level. There is one extra gear to engage compared to the Titan or the Speed models, also from Head. It feels tougher to bend, but there’s no big difference compared to the other two.

Test / Review Ski Head iSupershape Titan

 Mini Head - SkiReviewer

A good portion of what’s been written for the iSupershape Speed also applies on the Head iSupershape Titan. Its brilliant behavior on the piste and ease at linking turns must be highlighted, although the oversize of its shape is noticeable. It feels somewhat “bigger” under the foot. Without a weighing scale, it is hard to say if it’s heavier than the Speed model, but chances are it is.

In relation to last season’s model, almost nothing has changed. The 2014-2015 ski comes from the same mold and it features the same technologies from last season such as the KERS, the Race Structured UHM C Base, the WC sandwich cap construction and the Speed Rocker. Following their marketing tradition, Head insists on trying to convince us that they use revolutionary techniques -KERS, computer chips, now the ERA 3.0- from other fields even though they don’t make any sense in the actual performance. Head is a great manufacturer that makes very good sport products and they don’t need to treat their clients as if they were little children.
