Test Ski Atomic Redster Doubledeck 3.0 XT

Mini Atomic - SkiReviewer

The Atomic Redster Doubledeck 3.0 XT is Atomic’s interpretation of how a brand should build a pair of race skis to satisfy all kinds of race skiers. It’s never an easy endeavour, and at the end of the day the result can be wonderful or a nonsense failure. However, if intelligence persists there are chances to succeed.

Test Ski Atomic Redster Doubledeck 3.0 SL

Mini Atomic - SkiReviewer

The Atomic Redster Doubledeck 3.0 SL is a very good performant slalom ski. This year´s renewal of the Atomic´s top SL model has revived the SL category. This kind of ski quite often represents the brand´s flagship, and therefore it is a very important asset. All skiers around the world are continuously trying to make the perfect turn again and again, day after day, season after season. Slalom skis have become not only objects of desire but also cult objects.

Test/Review Dynastar Speed Course Fluid

Mini Dynastar - SkiReviewer

The Dynastar Speed Course Fluid is the second in the GS-like line of skis at Dynastar. It is a very similar ski to its brother the Speed Course Pro R20 Racing. With just a 40gr. difference on the weight, it is very easy to think we are talking about pretty much the same ski. The manufacturer fails to explain the difference between them. They both use the same technologies, sandwich construction, dual core, fibre-metal reinforcements, etc. So… the difference could be minimal as some lesser use of fibre-glass, a thinner metal layer or it could be none.

Test Dynastar Speed Omeglass Pro R20 Racing

Mini Dynastar - SkiReviewer

The Dynastar Speed Omeglass Pro R20 Racing is the high-end Slalom offering from Dynastar. The Omeglass brand is very well known in the market. It has defined the SL skis line at Dynastar for the past ten years. Anyone who hears it immediately knows what´s all about. Infinite, precise and powerful turns.

Its profile is the typical from an SL ski with a deep sidecut, a generous shovel and in this particular model a very sharp shaped tail. You won´t see a narrower end, sharper and more “extreme” tail in the Slalom market than in the Dynastar Speed Omeglass Pro R20 Racing. In fact, it is so “long” that the effective edge length is a bit shorter than in other skis. With a 119mm. wide tip, we will turn easily while keeping the accuracy at the entrance of every turn. A waist of 67mm. falls in between the thinnest ones at 63-64mm. and the widest ones at 71-72mm. wide. This profile leaves the theorical turn radius in just 12 meters, which is obviously good for a Slalom ski.

Test Dynastar Speed Course Pro R20 Racing

Mini Dynastar - SkiReviewer

The Dynastar Speed Course Pro R20 Racing is Dynastar’s doorway into the GS range. A ski with an odd sidecut profile and a strange radius for a GS-like ski. Yes, the general public needs and deserves a softened version of the real FIS model, but this time Dynastar could have gone too far.

A more than generous 125mm. shovel, a big 106mm. tail and an astonishingly wide waist of 76mm. conform the Dynastar Speed Course Pro R20 sidecut profile. The result is a 16-meter radius for a GS-like ski, which isn´t the expected nor the required.

Test Blizzard RCS Racing S + Power 12 TCX

Mini Blizzard - SkiReviewer

The Blizzard RCS Racing S + Power 12 TCX is the secondary Giant Slalom model in the Blizzard Race range. Although it closes the line, this is a very capable ski that will satisfy the needs of those well skilled skiers who demand a powerful but comfortable ski. Its shape is tremendously similar to the other two Giant Slalom models in the range. But it’s in its reactions when we’ll notice the difference. Smoother and more forgiving in general are the main characteristics.

Mini Atomic - SkiReviewer

The Atomic Redster Doubledeck SL is a serious candidate to be considered one of the easiest slalom skis in the market today. The kind of ease in which it lets us take good angles regardless of the snow, and get out of them without a hassle. This makes it a very attractive option for those skiers with a sporty taste but unwilling to tackle the difficulties inherent to those skis with less carved shapes, such as the GS models.

The Atomic Redster Doubledeck GS is the Giant Slalom street version for the general public from the Austrian brand. Atomic were pioneers in incorporating a superimposed layer on their skis as stabilizers / dumping mechanisms. That second “layer”, that they call Doubledeck, has been recently incoporated in the brand’s desing schemes.
